In pictures: Amanpulo in Palawan, the Philippines

Picture this: a pristine island covered in lush jungle, fringed by eye-blindingly white beaches, crystal clear water, and with tropical birds fluttering around. Now plunk in 42 casitas, state-of-the-art facilities and several restaurants, and you’ve got yourself a little paradise called Amanpulo.

Tips

Rates vary depending on your casita’s perks. Some sport private plunge pools, while others boast shimmering sea views. However, the more expensive beachside casitas (with direct beach access) are worth the splurge.
Breakfast is an a-la-carte affair and can be had at the Beach Club or the central Club House. The menu is the same at both places, with highlights including the chia pudding and avocado bruchetta.
Amanpulo can only be reached by plane – either arrange your own chartered flight or book a seat on the twice-daily flight from Manila for $495 per person (return).
